It's less viable on a sun team than a normal team, actually.
Mega Venusaur does not benefit from the sun in any way except for maybe buffing Growth. It's a bulky Pokemon with useful resistances and few weaknesses.
If you're using a Sun team then stick to regular Venusaur with Chlorophyll.
