Playing Gen III right now.

What is the best way to train? I have the macho brace, but is EV training really even worth it if I am not doing anything outside the main story?

Will it really give me a noticeable advantage?

The answer to this question is always no, doesn't matter which game you're playing.

But nah, it's really not that worth it for the main story unless you have a favorite Pokemon that happens to be too weak to make it through the Elite 4 otherwise.
