That's great, I have nothing wrong with people who play the game their own way and do the things they want to do. My only issue is when people shove shit down other people's throats for doing the same thing they're doing. Playing the game to have fun their way. Instead people who breed, or do things the 'right' way seem to have this sense of effort attached to something that doesn't matter at all.

To be quite frank, I don't why both sides don't get over it completely, but, till then, this drama is completely and utterly delicious.

Congrats, the last two weeks of Pokemon were some of the best, knowing I could play online and trade on the GTS without fear of getting someone's cheated scraps for something I actually got for playing the game the way it was meant.

I could say that reading is a waste of time, but you get something when you are done reading a book, be it knowledge, feels, whatever the fuck you get from reading.
From breeding you get good Pokemon, suit for online battles. You spent some time into making a good team, and this gives you an edge against other people.
That's the reward.
And stop using that lame ass excuse of "wasted time" because I bet, like most of us, you spend the whole day sitting in front of the PC, playing your 3DS while watching a movie you illegaly downloaded from the pirate bay.

With the destiny knot and power items breeding down IVs is easier than it was in Gen 5.
All you have to do is catch a box of dittos and you're set forever. It's much quicker than breeding everything from a single perfect ditto.

Catch a bunch of Dittos, check their IVs, take the ones with IVs you need and breed one of them holding a destiny knot with a Axew, hatch a few eggs until you get one with the IVs you wanted on it. Then breed that with a different ditto with the other IVs, holding a knot, it doesn't take that much effort past that to get 4 or 5, if you're lucky, but you can still continue to breed a 4 with another ditto with 2 to get more.

Spending hours and hours praying to the RNG won't give you an edge compared to the people who use Pokegen.

The edge comes from planning your team/moveset/general strategy and knowing its strengths and weaknesses. All of which Pokegen users still do. Just that in the case of the Pokegenner, it's instant and there's no RNG involved.

FPS gamers have an actual reason to be upset, because hacking gives players access to better weapons they shouldn't be having early on and thus an advantage over people in the same skill tier. Pokemon doesn't provide that at all because anyone worth a fuck in multiplayer has max IVs anyway. Hacking a legitimate Pokemon doesn't magically make a player more skilled.

I breed my Pokemon, but if I come across someone who hacks theirs, then as long as the Pokemon is legal with legal moves and such, then who am I to complain about it? How can I even tell if it's hacked or not and in what way will it affect the battle that will be determined by the trainers' skill?

The thing is, hacking your mons into the game doesn't just affect you; it wrecks the trading community, as there's no incentive to make contact with others, haggle and trade. That whole social aspect of the game goes down the toilet with pokegen, because there are fewer people trading.

Playing a game is all about limitations. You don't hack in a level 100 Pokemon at the start of the game to save time. You don't hack 'em all instead of catching them. It's these limitations that make the game fun. Otherwise you might as well skip the 'game' step and write 'you win' on a bit of paper.

Sure, maybe spending time on breeding isn't your thing. Perhaps you don't want to even bother breeding one species to perfection, to give decent trade fodder. You can still be useful to others and play the trading part of the game. Perhaps you like battling. In that case, get the rarer items from the battle maison and trade them. Perhaps you have a decent friend safari, or enjoy catching and raising obscure Pokemon for dex conpletion.

Hacking is opting out of the game, and when enough people do it, you stop having a community; instead, you're left with a handful of kiddies running about with aimbots.

You don't have to hack yourself a 100 perfect pokemon with full IVs, and the best moves. All I would do when hacking is available for these games is give me the pokes at level 1 with the ivs and nature I want. I really can't focus on breeding, but I like most of the rest of the game. You shouldn't assume everyone who hacks does it exactly the same way.

I wouldn't hack for shinies either, even though I love them.

I have an attention disorder. When I get bored my brain literally in the technical definition of the word becomes retarded and I can't think, I can't concentrate, and my brain tries to latch onto any other idea. Pokegen is for people that can't cut it playing pokemon. They have no skill, so they avoid showdown where they would surely lose, and also because they have no skill, they don't just raise legit pokemon, and instead try to squeak out easy wins against people not trying to have perfect pokemon in the actual games.

Well I am glad you are okay with what I am doing, I really am just trying to skip the egg breeding and that's it. Well like I said earlier except shinies. If I want those I got to breed or find them, and since I don't like breeding, I probably won't have any but oh well. For those thinking that X and Y will be this magical hack-free haven because of what they heard about Pokebank filtering, don't forget that we have complete control over THREE consecutive generations! Nintendo can't do a damn thing about the ones that are so well done most people won't be able to tell the difference anyway. It'll be an endless game of cat and mouse. They can't even screen their own tournaments properly so I have a feeling even some of the bad ones will manage to get in.

Just because there are luck based elements doesn't mean there isn't any strategy.

When you use Hi Jump Kick you have to take missing into account.
When you choose not to switch and try to take out that Super Luck Honchkrow, you have to take crits into account.

Crits are always something you should take into account. If you think you can nail something if you survive the hit you have to ask yourself (but what if there is a crit?) Gambling blindly and knowing when to gamble are two different things. You can choose to gamble, but if you can make a safe decision then you avoided the luck element.
