A lot of the maps and levels design was convoluted at best, the battle sequences were slow and clunky as fuck.
Story I barely even remember.
And the number of Legendaries got ridiculous to the point where I couldn't care anymore and they stopped feeling special and more like another check to the list of "Shit to do post game".
Hoenn had a really good map design.
It was simple, but had a lot to offer if you wanted to dig through each route once you finished the game.
Shit had volcanos and a town covered in ash.
An ocean route that was actually good with a bitchin ship wreck to poke around in with an even more bitchin theme to go with
