I don't know.

His Amoonguss doesn't show love for him though, IIRC. He just kinda makes MAD faces all the time.

Speaking of his grass types, I never got how Pikachu and Bulbasaur could get their asses kicked by a Bellsprout and yet breeze through James's Victreebel.
