No chance in hell. On top of getting an added weakness Synchronize got absolutely shit on this gen.

Didn't stop me from using Umbreon to tank the E4 though.

That's because you're using it wrong and not going physically defensive. It's surprisingly good at taking neutral non-STABs and Fighting attacks.

Wait, really? I figured Synchronize would count as just "poison" not "Poison Powder". You have a point about Electric/Paralyze though.

Doing this isn't actually that uncommon; it's so the Pokemon can take hits well from both sides. People build Blissey with Bold nature and 252 defense EVs all the time even though its base defense is piss poor.

Yeah looks like I was wrong on that. I just went to do a double battle to test and both poisonpowder and stun spore were returned. Sleep powder however did nothing at all, the ability didn't even activate.
