Pokemon Z is actually Gen 6.5 and introduces 30-40 new Pokemon but it's not fully compatible with X and Y because those new mons aren't in XY data and GameFreak say that they won't add those Pokemon to XY via patch. So basically you will need to buy a new version if you want to be up to date. What will be your reaction?
Mind that it already might partially happen because I'm sure that the third version will have exclusive Mega Stones.
