Alright /vp/ hypothetical question time.
You're battling some random jap and you're utterly destroying him. His team of ubers and legendaries has completely fallen to your team, and he has only one weakened Pokemon left while your team is fully alive and well. It's impossible for him to win.
How do you assert your victory over him?
Do you spam buffs or status effect moves endlessly until he forfeits? Do you (in a double or triple battle) friendly fire your own Pokemon to death before finishing his off? Do you just end it quickly?
