Switcheroo

Pretty much every standard Item that isn't a Choice band or Blacksludge will benefit it and if it gets something bad it can just Switcheroo it away.

1 time use items would be good if it could steal the same turn it uses an item, this is however not how it works.

Yeah, it's pretty shit. To be honest, running a Gem or running no item both have their merits. Although you lose some surprise ability when you've lost the Gem.

To be honest Blaze is in some ways the better ability. Blaze with the same set and a Choice item is probably one of the best Delphox sets.

Has Blaze or any of the other starter abilities ever been useful competitively? Not OP but I feel like I'd rather run Magician rather than Blaze on my Delphox.

Yes, but mainly because there's nothing better to use. Magician and Blaze are about the same in usability, but if you're going to use an item that isn't one time use there's no reason at all to run Magician since it won't do anything.

You know what I don't like about Fennekin? It's just a fucking fox. That's it. They drew a real life fennec fox and made it cartoony. Seriously, it looks like someone took my mom's pet fox and put it in the game.

Older pokemon actually had personalities to them. They had quirks that separated them from actual animals. This thing? It's. Just. A. DOG

Either use no item or Kasib Berry. Passho Berry is another good alternative. Magician is very good at wrecking sets reliant on items but its balanced because it does nothing to Mega evolutions and the number of items the fox itself can use are limited.

Although of the course the one trick pony of Solarbeam + Power Herb is always an option. But you'll die afterwards anyway. Overheat + White Herb is even worse.

Still Delphox is hilarious against walls with no recovery (bye leftovers) or things like Zangoose, Greninja or even Xerneas.
