Is there a way I can guarantee the baby have the hidden ability when breeding with a Ditto, or do I just have to get lucky? Does breeding with the Ditto a female instead of a male with the hidden ability increase my chances?

Females are more likely to pass down the HA if I remember correctly. Males CAN but it's less likely.

I think to pass hidden abilities you have to breed with another species member. Ditto as a parent doesn't allow for passing of HA I believe

HA Male with Ditto = 60% chance of HA.
HA Female with same species = 60% chance of HA.
Any other combination = no HA.

When breeding with a Ditto, the male and the female can both pass down the HA at a 60% chance. When not breeding with a Ditto, only the female can pass down the HA, again, at a 60% chance.
