Just started online battling today. After 20 battles (18 victories 2 defeats) all I have to say is....is this it? Is this actually the thing that people say requires skill? Requires you to "git gud" at?
Call me slow, but there is barely any skill involved in this. 5% at most would be dedicated to skill (aka predicting and switching out) the remaining 95% is almost definitely nothing but luck. For example, I have been playing some 3s. I've went up against 3 almost identical teams. The main thing I'd like to focus on here though is the Kangaskhan. I'd thunder wave it with my Klefki, then switch into my Goodra. First two battles went like this. Paralyze not once went off in the 7 or so turns that Kangaskhan was alive for. This happened on 2 of the fucking players I went up against. Not only that but my Goodra missed every single Focus Blast. If I recall correctly that is 3 missed Focus Blasts on each of the two Kangaskhan guys that I lost too. So not only did paralyze not go off at all, but I also got extremely unlucky in missing every one of my attacks that would have 100% 1 shotted the Kangaskhan.
As for the final Kangaskhan user, things actually went in my favor. I switched my Goodra in, paralyze went off, and then my focus blast proceeded to land and 1 shot him, as it should do. That was an easy victory.
So where exactly is the skill? Because all I'm seeing is massive luck dependence.
