flygon already has essentially 3 types, ground is pretty much required, flying(levitate) is pretty much required, dragon is pretty well established on it, so there's not much room left for bug.

Dark seems more human than poison. Dark pokes generally have motivations and are evil/arrogant/jerks. An Eldritch Abomination isn't really evil, just super strange and super deadly.

Compare to Garbador or Muk or Tentacruel I guess?

Besides, a lot of Dragon types don't look like dragons.

Reshiram and Dialga, for instance. Arguably the Gible line as well.

Each grants an immunity to what would be the other's primary weakness (fighting and ghost). Only weakness then is dark, and the STAB combination has fantastic neutral coverage.

Even though Dark types aren't very popular (for good reason), lots of people pack a Dark move for coverage against Ghost and Psychic, both of which are pretty common.

There should've been a way to kill pokemon since Gen 1.

Lavender Town could've been so much more if you're pokemon could die and be put in a grave where you can review them as half ghosts later on.
