I kind of consider Avalugg to be the physical equivalent of Regice.

Regice was better at Spatk and SpDef but got clobbered by physical stuff, Avalugg is better at Atk and Def but gets clobbered by special stuff

You know that Blissey is a Defensive tank too? And just have 10 Base Def.

Avalugg is the same thing but Physical. Focus Punch Critical coming from a base 130 and STAB is unable to OHKO him.

Mega Aggron does his job better. Takes 3/4 damage from super effective hits as well. Only thing avalugg does better is it has leftovers.

Ok avalugg has recover on it as well. Aggron has to rely on wish passing or run a rest/talk set. But Aggron's enormous base defense along with filter means it totally outclasses avalugg in how much damage it can take from single hits.

Ended up being much better than what people thought of it at first.
This isn't your average "defensive ice type", it's a bona fide physical wall who can completely embarass a plethora of physical attackers including but not limited to Garchomp, Salamence, Excadrill, Landorus, Talonflame, Terrakion and Tyranitar. Yes, it can beata ll of them one-on-one. No it doesn't even get 3HKO'd unless they setup. If they DO setup, they get phazed out by Roar. If they don't, they get OHKO'd or 2HKO'd by its Avalanche+Earthquake combo.
Don't use Avalugg as a spinner, it's a waste of its potential. Instead give it rapid spin/defog support, it's well worth it.

You forgot to mention CB Scizor doesn't even 2HKO with Bullet Punch.
Also Aegislash can't OHKO with a +4 Sacred Sword and gets OHKO'd by EQ in return.

Max physical bulk with Avalanche/EQ/Roar/Recover is the overall best set.

I bred a 5IV Careful one and decided to max HP and Sp. Def. Works out pretty good and can actually take a few hit on the special side before it goes down. I'm just worried I neglected his Defensive side, though I did give him curse. Currently running:

Maybe LO is something to consider, but the +2 from WP is nice considering that you can take SE hits pretty nicely (the examples shows the strongest attackers in the current meta, imagine this guy in lower tiers which where it will most likely end up in).
