It shows up for no goddamn reason in Red and Blue Mystery Dungeon where it gets its own fucking statue and is said to be the best explorer ever, it gets its own godawful piece of shit movie, it has people dress up like it in Diamond/Pearl, it shows up in advertisements for Black/White 2, you can catch wild Riolu very early on, you get a Lucarionite-holding Lucario handed to you on a silver platter in X/Y, it's the first Pokemon to mega evolve in the backstory and gets a goddamn tower, shrine, and statue dedicated to it because it's SO fucking special, that retard Cameron in the anime beats Ash with one by using it to curbstomp his team by itself including Godchu, and it is practically the patron deity for furries everywhere.
