I would rather a shiny with good nature/neutral nature instead, and be able to be nicknamed. If you have a shiny ice type it doesn't matter what the nature is since I'm just collecting those.

It will have sparkles and shit on the screen if you actually have no idea what their normal color scheme is. Also makes some noise if you play with volume on. If you for some reason think you came across a shiny but weren't paying attention when you encountered it you can always just search up what it's shiny looks like.

Hey guys, I have some questions.

First off. Does your chances of hatching a shiny differ if you catch a Pokemon, say a Flabebe, in the wild and catch a Floette in a friend safari? I've gotten a few shinies via Masuda Method and they were all fairy short hunts when the Pokemon was a wild Pokemon. However, when I used a Pokemon I obtained from a Friend Safari, the egg range went up to ~1100.

Secondly, which I guess is an extension to the first part but whatever. If you have two of the same Pokemon, say Floette again, but one has better IVs (because of FS), will that change up the shiny rate as well? It seems like it takes longer to hatch a shiny if the parent has better IVs than not.

Hatched a Mawile a while back but it had bad IVs and a dick so I decided to make a new one to pass some time. Got this one in less than a box. 31 in HP, Atk, Sp Def. Wanted the Def and Speed as well but oh well, female and much better than my last. I'm happy.

I got 3 Klefki while hunting for shiny metang. Just traded 2 of them for Articuno and Zapdos, as I got Moltres in my game.

Also got a Sneasel who I fucked up by evolving before learning ice shard, an adamant Gyarados, random Starly while breeding to potentially pass down Brave Bird and Whirlwind to Skarmory, and a Lanturn yesterday chain fishing.

Also, does anyone think style may be linked to chances of finding shiny pokemon? I recently bought all the expensive clothes from the shop in Luminoise and it ended my 4 day drought.

Having worked for a full week on my matsuda Roserade, I have been successful.

I bred it modest because it's going to be used in UU with Sticky Web support. See, I got a german roselia off the GTS with the message "4IV -atk +satk" and immediately jumped on it. I love roserade. So I caught a weepinbell, evolved it to victreebel for Leaf Storm, bred it onto a bulbasaur and leveled that to gain sleep powder. Bred it onto a roselia to get the other parent, which ended up being 6IV flawless (which I'm sure is why this shiny is so fucking awesome).

I'm so glad this work payed off so handsomely. I'd like suggestions for names, and maybe any thoughts about EV investment. In theory, with sticky web I can outspeed timid 252 Roserades with little speed investment. Should I still invest fully into speed or give it a little HP for bulk and teach it rest?

I'm doing MM right now but not constantly, and I don't "expect" a shiny. I feel like a shiny is a trophy, an achievement, but it's not like a normal one. It's sorta like beating Through the Fire and the Flames on Expert on Guitar Hero. Most people won't even try it, but if you can accomplish it, you can brag about it and most people will be pretty impressed. Because of it seeming like such an extra thing, I feel absolutely no pressure. It's a side project while I relax and unwind to whatever album I'm bumping that month.

Best way to use sketch, go to that one star restaurant in Luminose city, start with smeargle and pokemon with one of the attacks you want to sketch. Use that attack and have smearagle sketch it. Smeargle relearns sketch every 10 levels. Rinse and repeat.

It seems like the more times you MM for a shiny, the less amount of time goes by. When I was doing it for my first shiny, getting to 80 eggs (which is the amount it took to hatch the shiny) seemed like forever. But now, I'm sitting at ~430 eggs or so and it seems like nothing.

I tried and gave up very quickly in previous Gens. likely totalling between 5 and 10 boxes.

I did about 10 boxes of dunsparce a few weeks ago, now im on box 35 of Durants and still no Shiny to show for it.

What do I have to do! I am sure this masuda method is all a big Joke and doesn't really help.

This is a silly question but are you sure you're doing it right? e.g. foreign ditto x your own pokemon, or your ditto x foreign pokemon? pokemon with flame body ability (not needed but helps with the process) etc

I've heard that having a foreign ditto increases the chances even more than having a foreign pokemon of the one you're trying to get a shiny of. Not sure if it's true, or by how much but maybe it's worth looking in to?

Nope, you're wasting space. The quickest way to hatch batches is having Oval Charm, MM with same species, biking outside Day Care until you have 5 eggs, then flying to the center of Lumiose City and biking around with a Flame Body and Hatching Power level 3 (3 minutes of Power are usually just enough to hatch the 5 eggs). Deposit them, and repeat the process.
