This whole thread is pointless. Ash will never have a true love interest. As long as there are plans to keep him as the main protagonist, he will never be able to keep a steady relationship because he is (for the most part) a static character. This could all change, of course, if they decide to axe his character all together at the end of the season and use a new protagonist.
The whole debate is rather humorous. Most of you shippers relate to Ash on some subconscious level. You enjoy Pokemon and wish you could go on a Pokemon journey like that, but you can't. When it comes to the subject of love, since you can't be with the girls he travels with, you hope that he chooses whichever female companion you happened to have a crush on as a kid, or teen. Which is, honestly, normal. This is why, despite the fact you know he will never have a real relationship, you still argue why he loves one girl more than the other.
