How should I be building this guy? I have a modest nidoran male and I've got spatk maxed and I;m working on speed.

I'm also not sure of move set, the one I bred got poison point so I thought venoshock was a good idea.

I've battled some with Earth Power/Sludge Wave and they hit like a truck.

I've seen some Toxic/Venoshock sets, too, but I feel they're kinda gimmicky given the amount of Steel/Poisons in the current metaga,e.

I'd go with a special attacker with entry hazards support, specially Sticky web. Consider adding a Galvantula to your team.

Also I wouldn't have used venoshock without poison point, toxic seems like a bad idea considering I could be attacking on that turn too.

You should go get a NidoranF with Hustle so you can get Sheer Force. Poison Point is worse than useless because Poison is a shit status and having it means that you can no longer Toxic, Paralyze, Burn or Sleep them, and Sheer Force is amazing.

I ran into a guy who was using Tbolt, Ice beam, Flamethrower and Thunder Wave or some shit i can't remember.
Switched in my Ditto when he Thunderbolted and swept his entire team with his own Pokemon.

Better effectiveness spread. Ferrothorn and Forretress are only two Pokemon, while you'll run into more Pokemon that could be cut down with a Thunderbolt. Talonflame and Greninja overflow in online right now, whereas I've come across 0 Forretresses and only 1 Ferrothorn, which I had a different Pokemon take down.

Use something with Sweet Scent (Oddish or whatever) to start horde battles.
Use something with Entrainment or similiar moves (e.g. Durant from route Route 18/Terminus Cave) to check for Hidden Ability.
Remember that males can pass on Hidden Abilities too if you pair them with Ditto, although the chance is low.

Can't Nidoking OHKO Talonflame and Greninja with STAB neutral Sludge Wave anyway? Ferrothorn, particularly, resists T-bolt and is immune to Sludge Wave. I doubt a neutral Earth Power would actually kill him.

How about this?

Modest w/ Sheer Force, holding Choice Scarf
4 HP/252 SpA/252 Spe
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

According to Pokemon DB, only 203 Pokemon take normal damage while the remaining 571 take SE damage.

If you remove Flamethrower for Sludge Wave, then 237 Pokemon take normal damage while 536 take SE damage and no effect on Shedinja.

Only when using moves affected to Sheer Force.

Sheer Force only activates on moves with percentage-based secondary affects (i.e. Flamethrower burns 10% of the time), but will remove Life Orb damage from said move.

It won't remove Life Orb damage or boost a move like Earthquake however.

Nidoqueen is more of a supporter, so it doesn't really matter what ability you are using.

Nidoking yes, there's no point in using him without Sheer Force.

Given that it also did weird stuff like prevent Color Change, it seemed like a bug (an early return in the "move aftereffects" code, for instance), but I guess they figured that all of the Pokemon who get Sheer Force are hardly OP without LO recoil.

It's a shame to waste such coverage on Specs/Scarf. I'd say go timid @ Life Orb. Not only you don't get the recoil, but this beasts coverage is insane.

If you think you lose too much power, try Modest @ Life Orb, but i prefer Timid.

Actually, Entrainment is BETTER in this regard.

Because you can scan all 5 of the horde's abilities.

I'm going crazy trying to get defense on mine too. I have almost an entire box of 4 IV Togepis without Defense. It's fucking infuriating. I do have a 2IV Togepi with defense though.
