When I was breeding mine I did want a female, but I kept saying I'd take whatever the first perfect one was. Luckily it was female.

Although the main reason I wanted a female was because I had a good nickname for one. I couldn't think of anything good for guys.

Swords Dance is outdone by subs in your average game. She's slow and Sucker Punch is predictable so by the time you've set up a SD, chances are they'll predict the Sucker Punch and disable/kill you.

From behind a sub though you'll be able to wreck 1-2 pokemon before being taken down.

This. Fire fang isn't that useful now that steel doesn't resist dark. Also power-up punch helped me out a lot against mega houndoom.
Power-up punch/Play rough/Iron head/Sucker punch is what I'd recommend anyway

I've been using her on a room team lately as well, it's beautiful. I have SD instead of fire fang, which has some uses. Protect may be a better option, but I usually prefer to attack or SD first turn if there's no scary fire special attackers out.

i find Fire Fang deals with Steels & Grasses that would otherwise wall her. she's my go-to gal to deal with Ferrothorn. i go against using Protect because under Trick Room there's no time to do anything but attack, Protect & SD wastes a turn of TR that you could use to hit hard. she's built to hit hard without the need for boosting.

I got myself a Mawile with perfect IV's in Attack and Speed, gonna breed to get another perfect in Defense. Don't currently have anything set in stone, but I plan to run Iron head and Play Rough. Maybe Fire fang too. Which leaves me which Sucker Punch for the last slot. Any good?
I planned to EV train in Attack and Speed, but will she really still be too slow?

I figured protect on the turn you put up the TR, to avoid damage from fast threats before TR goes into play. I might be thinking in a doubles mindset while you're in singles maybe though

Okay, I know I'm also new to some of this, but if you play Protect, won't you be wasting the turn as well? It's not like setting up Trick Room will happen any faster in the next turn, while the enemy can just use the same attack again (unless it's a first turn move)

Depends on the set. Heatran can check anything without a Fighting move and Forretress and Skarmory counters Mawile without Fire Fang. Some other checks too that I'm not remembering but yeah, there are no hard counters to this thing.

yeah i'm using a singles TR team. i tend to switch her in when TR is in effect so protect is useless for me. but even when TR isn't on, she can tank a hit or two & KO somebody else. anybody who tells you TR isn't viable in singles is talking out their ass, it's unpredictability & surprise just reks hard. i only have problems with Taunters, even Substall teams only half manage to stop me. i wish Showdown would put in that Boomburst goes through subs, would have won a few more battles if they'd coded it in already

I've been using a male mawile with sucker punch, iron head, play rough and swords dance with fake out support form mewostic. Once he gets a boost there is little he cannot ko. even after being burned he can still deal massive amounts of damage before going down
