I've never MM'd, or raised a shiny before. Seeing all of these people getting shinies made me think I could get one.

I think about how the pokebank means my shinies will probably stick around with me longer. I also think about how its easier to make them better in battle (with the new IV and EV stuff) so theyre more valuable. Idk. Its also just sort of relaxing while watching tv.

So far I've MMd a furfrou and growlithe, trying for a venipede now.

Depends what kind of person you are. My two best advices would be :
-Thinking about how awesome your shiny will be when you have it, planning its moves and EVs and matchups and counters and the hugs you'll give it in Amie.
-Continuing hatching while multitasking but stop caring until it's finally here. To stop thinking "THIS ONE MAYBE" every egg, and keep going by staying cold-hearted. You'll have all the time in the world to be happy when it's born.

Do people generally try to get a shiny with battle-ready IVs? I have a hard enough time getting my 5-6 IV mons to have the right ability, let alone shiny and/or gender. Not to mention how difficult it is to MM decent IVs. I don't know how you people do it.

But if you're just getting a shiny to have and to pet and to look at and to hug, then more power to you.

I'm not going to release a shiny if it turns out with meh IVs, I'll still train and use it, but I do my best to make there be a chance it won't be complete shit. I have two 3 IV foreign Ditto (one special, one physical) and usually breed one with a perfect (or at least ideal 5 IV) parent.
Fuck egg moves and MM shinies, though. I don't even bother.

I didnt. I stopped. I realized I could have been spending all that precious time getting a team up and running for ranked. Not to mention you're gimping yourself because that shiny will most likely come out subpar in one if not more ways. If you dont get it in your first 3 boxes, you already dont have the luck required for this kind of shit.
