It's because one random pokemon in a random horde may randomly have their hidden ability. In order to attempt to attempt to maybe capitalize on running into this pokemon (assuming you had any idea that you had just run into a hidden ability pokemon), you must then kill all but the single hidden ability pokemon in the horde. Then you can catch it.

GameFreak only seems content in trying to outdo the previous generation of Pokemon games, but compared to other RPGs they're so far behind it isn't even funny. Example: for the first time ever, you can now run diagonally, and using the skates or bike let's you turn 360 degrees using the analog stick! Except any RPG worth a shit has let you move in 360 degree since the invention of the first analog stick. There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to run or walk 360 degrees, and it would allow for more varied town and path layouts instead of forcing everything onto a grid pattern. It would also single-handedly solve all the control issues in Lumiose.

Fly and Teleport are basically the same thing as well. You can't get stuck with those. I don't think there are any flyable locations in XY that would require HMs to get out of. Even if there were, just put a patch of grass next with something that knows fly next to each flyable stranded location or don't make those at all.
Or alternatively, they could just make cut, strength and fly good like Waterfall and Surf. People wouldn't mind then.

Of course I guess the "cannot aim" thing is a suspension of disbelief kinda thing. If it was reality all those monsters would be running around rather quickly, yours included, and there's no guarentee you'd hit what you wanted if you threw one at the mob.
It just seems stupid since the games are in actuality turn-based and when your choosing your item everything just idles out, making it seem like it oughta be easy.
On thread, two things are my peeves. Low-Mon Count opponent trainers (I really would like to see more 4-5ers, 6 reserved for more important things however), especially Gym Leaders.
And I REALLY wish I'd see other trainers have HM moves on their mons. Seriously how is the Protag the only person who needs these damn things to get around. Unless the unused-mons in battle are their KO'd slaves.

The only thing I have a gripe and it's a big gripe, is the absence of wifi coop for Battle Maison. What the fuck. They even give you your Friend List like a fucking middle finger when you choose not to connect locally but to play with an NPC assigned based on your friend. BW1 lacking it was disappointing, BW2 even more so, and now this is a strike three. I can still look pass the absence of the battle facility since the first version of the games (RS, DP) did not feature them, but since BW2 did not have the battle facilities either I'm not optimistic.

Some of the 3D models in battle looks super dull, comparing at least to earlier pixel sprites. Just look at the Delphox everyone is already hating or Lucario. Why couldn't they give them more interesting poses or more dynamic idle animations. We are in battle for gods sake, make it look like one.
