Fishing is a lot easier and simpler than the radar if the radar is anything like what is was in gen 4. In D/P/Pt I never got a shiny with the radar, meanwhile I already found 2 shinies this weekend just by fish chaining.

Go horde-chasing. Get a Pokemon with Sweet Scent and go to a patch of grass on a route that has your preferred Pokemon. You'll drop the shiny ratio from 1/8192 to 1/1639 (rounded up).

Needless to say, I caught it. I feel proud to get such a funny shiny like Sudowoodo, particularly because my last two Gen VI shinies were Gulpin and Basculin.

By the way, I caught the Gulpin via a horde battle
