If you want coverage, all you need is Boomburst, Surf, Flamethrower, Ice Beam.

And since you'll be running Specs and Scrappy, all you REALLY need is Boomburst anyway.

490 BST isn't bad - it's up there with Alakazam, Scrafty, and Ferrothorn. It's main problem is distribution - it's only stat higher than 100 is HP at 104, and it only has 68 Speed.

Yes, but given the sheer power of Specs STAB Boomburst, it doesn't matter.

With max HP he can typically tank 3-4 hits as long as they aren't fighting type, and that means he can OHKO 3-4 mons in most cases, with no boosts.

He's not immortal with 104/65/75 defenses, but damn.

This is of course in my own personal experience on WiFi and in Maison/etc.

I haven't thrown him up against the waves of Garchomps and Terrakions in OU Pokebank Beta to see what happens.

Though it's worth noting that as the metagame settles, it seems pretty clear that bulky offense is IN, and I think you'll see fewer and fewer mons opting to invest solely in sky-high attack and speed this gen, which will also affect it.

Exploud's lack of resistances hampers his bulk and he's not going to be OU this gen, but I assure you that with STAB Specs Boomburst he has absolutely left the NU building for BL2/UU.

Take him to Battle Maison and watch him flop before getting embarrassed online. Any OU Dragon/sweeper will outspeed and OHK him. He's a Glass Canon and this is coming from someone who loved Exploud since Gen 3.

What he needs is a mega evo, not a 10 increase in SpD.

Let's not forget that he could have 300 speed and CB Bullet Punch Technician Scizor is STILL tearing off most of his HO because PRIORITY, and Scizor being steel type means he should really be switching out anyway because of Scizor's Boomburst resist.

Yes, there are things that can OHKO Exploud, even with max bulk. There are things that can OHKO ANY serious offensive threat even with max bulk. You do understand how bulky offense works, right?

I've been running calcs, Exploud is 2HKO'd by...many, many common things hitting him neutrally. Basically anything that isn't a wall/supporter/etc.

I have literally never seen this Pokemon do any serious damage online or in-game, even with boomburst. I've seen shuckle sweep teams, but never Exploud. What a joke.

Worst I've seen is an unlucky crit taking him to about 30% HP and neutering him as a result, and he still killed his opponent before dying next turn.

Granted, he's not Elder God King of Pokemon: Banned to Ubers edition, but so what? I have M-Mawile for dealing with Dragons.

I had a lot of success with Durant on my OU team. I think he actually worked better in OU than in other tiers.

Leavanny worked really well on my OU sun team, too, but I can't actually justify using her over something like Sawsbuck other than because I like her.

This has been my experience.

If the opponent isn't rock or steel, they're dead in one turn.

The only OU mons he fails to OHKO are steel, rock, or specially defensive by nature, with a couple rare exceptions.

It doesn't need to survive an entire team, even if it trades 2 for 1 you're still up a Pokemon. It's not a sweeper, it's too bulky and too slow, but if you don't 1 shot it (which it's too bulky to do against most neutral move) it WILL kill anything that doesn't resist a STAB Choice Boomburst. If they do shift in a fast revenge killer, you can probably avoid its Bullet Punch by switching to a Ghost type.

Basically, you're relying on your opponent to either switch in response to the Exploud, in which case it kills the new mon if it's not Blissey, Rock or Steel (and if it is it gets pretty badly chunked) or try to revenge kill it with Bullet Punch, in which case you get a free switch into a Ghost type.

You're overestimating both its power and its bulk. It's powerful, but it's not "kill anything that doesn't resist normal" powerful, and you'll never be trading your Exploud for two things against a decent opponent. I have run extensive tests and number grinding on this thing because I felt it had a lot of potential, but it just doesn't live up to expectation. Boomburst actually fails to hit OHKO on a good number of stuff, and powerful neutral hits are enough to take it down(for example, Hydreigon with Draco Meteor OHKOs most of the time even without a boosting item) On top of that, specs Boomburst against Hydreigon is not even a guaranteed kill, to give you an idea of what Exploud's real power is.
