14 years after getting Red for Christmas and picking a Bulbasaur as the first Pokemon I ever owned, it's now the first Shiny I've ever managed to get.

In emerald I found a Shiny Wrumple before the first gym also found in that same game I found Shiny Tailow before the second gym wasn't searching for them either just happened across them. They made nice additions to my party.

Other than scripted/event shinies, and ones given by others without my prior knowledge on GTS (yeah, it was a Stoutland, but it wasn't something I arranged, it's like being given a really cool game you have no intention of playing,) which I personally don't count, I had only even SEEN one other shiny, a male Drowzee, while looking for a Ditto on Route 34. In Pokemon Silver. In 2001.

I didn't even notice the sparkle, all my pre-teen eyes saw was "oh another Drowzee time to hit Run." My little brother commented "So why was that one sparkly?" as the screen faded out and I actually think that was the first time I ever said "fuck" in relation to a game.

Never saw another until last week, shiny Drifblim, caught him, named him Dullahan, and am entirely rebuilding my team around that fucker.

I if I remember correctly (this was like a year after the game came out maybe?) I had no idea what the little shiny intro stars meant. I assume I thought the red gyarados was just a unique thing.

I don't think I've ever been more excited about pixels. When I stopped breeding pokemon I had a friend hold on to him. It always makes me really sad thinking he's probably gone.

After playing since Blue myself and NEVER fucking getting a shiny outside of events (which don't count) I literally just caught my first shiny accidentally.
I was just trying to complete the Kalos Dex doing a Horde battle and my FIRST one was a Horde of nosepass with this beauty in it.
It's Timid Nature too so not too bad.

Then I got an action replay and caught myself a shiny fucking pineco and a shiny fucking electrode. I felt like I was rubbing my nads all over gamefreak's face. Totally worth it.

I can't remember, but I know I found quite a few shiny Pokemon since Gen 2. Would have either been Cleffa, Elekid or Eevee (into Umbreon).

I've usually found 3-4 shinies per Gen. But you've been more lucky then me this gen OP, I've clocked 80 hours and have yet to find a single shiny.

caught golbat my first shiny 6 or 7 years ago in emerald, ended up losing the cartridge. fast foward to june of this year bought platinum not even five hours in caught a shiny bronzor. bought emerald a month later caught a shiny wurmple fifteen minutes in, pal parked it then started a new save and i ended up catching a shiny torkoal, then shiny swablu 1 hour later. started heartgold in august decided to soft reset for starter, after three days i got shiny totodile, then in september i ran into a shiny rattata. right now i've been soft resetting for eevee in goldenrod for 2 months and after i get it i'm probably done with soft resetting for good. overall i've had a really great year.

I'm sorry but I swear, people have no excuse to have not gotten shinies in the D/P/Pt era unless they were against chaining because good fuck I think I caught 40 shinies in that generation. Especially since the chain didn't break when you catch the shiny. Just keep catching til you find one with the nature you want and trade the rest off

My very first Shiny was actually a Dunsparce back in my old Silver version. I ran into the cave just to see what was up since it was brand new, found the Dunsparce and heard the ding. I thought the ding and sparkle meant it was a legendary or something. Lo and behold as I discover that Dunsparce was buttfuckingly rare anyway.

He was and is one of my favorites of all time.

Playing Pokemon Ruby, found a shiny Zubat in Granite Cave.

Transferred my Crobat to replay Ruby, arrived in Dewford City, entered Granite Cave to meet Steven. Found a shiny Zubat. Eventually transferred it to Gen 4.

Traveling between the Day Care center while hatching eggs, found a Zubat in Connecting Cave.

Caught a shiny Pidgey in Firered when I was eight. Never trained it though, I reset the game without thinking about it.

Still don't really care, shiny Pidgey doesn't look very nice. I do miss my shiny Golbat who I lost because I lost the cartridge.

Technically he has enough PP for 80 turns depending on outrage rolls but he'd kill himself with Outrage confusion long before that.

Gen 2 Crystal, my step brother tells me about golden pokémon (shinies), get really excited and start playing like crazy, never got past snorlax so I started catching all the available pokémon.

Looking for a houndour in kanto, but instead find a shiny Spearow, I loved that thing man.. and a couple of hours later I find a shiny krabby while fishing in olivine city, Two fuckin shinies.

After some time has passed, my brother decides to erase the save file because he wanted to play from the start, since we didn't know that you used the radio to get past snorlax... and now, they are both gone... forever.

I'm really proud to have found two shinies.

But the best one I ever got was a Shiny Joltik in Pokemon White. Joltik is my favorite pokemon and I flipped my shit. Every shiny I've found in X/Y feels inferior compared to it.

My first shiny didn't show up until White 2.
I spent ages before that trying to get shinies, spent 4 weeks soft resetting for a shiny charmander, hatched many boxes of zoruas and released them, soft reset for some legendaries too, and ended up quitting thinking I'd never see one.
Discovered braviary in White 2 shows up on Route 4 every Thursday, and wanted a new flying type to try in my team. Decided to soft reset for a decent nature and think to myself it would be nice to see a shiny, but I am not going to waste time on this.
30 Soft resets and this glorious blue winged son of a gun shows up. Caught him, called him Lindburgh, screw the nature and stats he was my first shiny.
Havent got the game anymore but have got the save file, so going to get it again when pokemon bank comes out.

I caught two more shines in white 2 and it kind of restored my faith in shiny hunting so I went after lugia in Soul Silver, and after about a day and a half of soft resetting I caught it.

Now got loads thanks to friend safari, and trying to get a shiny rufflet in there right now.

also forgot, I got a shiny Totodile and Snorlax in Soul Silver too. I have never been a fan of water pokemon, usually go for the fire starter or sometimes grass, but Waylon has become a real beast.

Then a year later I found a shiny Tentacool. I gave it to my Elementary school crush so it's probably long gone. Also on Crystal.

Then Shiny Gyrados (I don't consider it loegit though due it being an in-game event)

Then a bunch of other shiny event pokes. They're gone now because my Soul Silver cartridge was stolen.

Earlier this year I got lucky with a shiny Chikorita. That one is waiting on my White 2 cartridge along with the shiny Haxorus and the shiny Gible I got.

A week ago I found a shiny ditto in the friend safari. I raged super hard because my s.o. and I had a conversation 10 minutes earlier on how a shiny ditto would suck ass.

Then I found a shiny wartortle (with the hidden ability and a decent nature) which is now a Blastoise and is sitting in my battle box.

I didn't run into a single shiny during heart gold and gen 5. Heart gold I tried to MM a bunch of times, and I got nothing.

First shiny I got was the first Chikorita I hatched in Silver. However, I had no idea about shiny Pokemon at the time and kept it in a box because I thought there as something wrong with it because of the color. I then stopped breeding Pokemon with Dittos until Leaf Green.

A Rattata in Silver on Route 1. I don't remember what was I doing, but it seemed lighter than most Rattata and I said "Well, fuck it" and catched it.

After that, it was an Oddish in the Emerald Safari Zone. Once again, it didn't seemed that different and I doubted if it was a shiny or not. I still caught it.

Then a Shiny Onix while EV training in Pearl and my most latest one is a Shiny Dweeble (now Crustle) in X while searching for fossils.

If I remember correctly, it was a shiny Fearow back in Leaf Green.

I had just found out about shiny Pokémon, and I thought that shiny Ponyta was really cool.
Went to Kindle Road on Knot Island to look for one, ran into a Fearow instead.

Then later in the same game, I fished up a shiny Poliwhirl on Route 6.

And in the end, not long before disaster struck (A girl I used to know deleted my game), I caught a shiny Pidgey in the grass on Bond Bridge, Kin Island.

I put so much time into that game, I had even attended events which gave me Deoxys, Lugia, Ho-oh and Jirachi.

I miss them ;_;

Wow, that's terrible. I cried so much when that girl deleted my game (this was back in 2005/2006, if I remember correctly).

At least some of my rare Pokémon still exist on my brother's Emerald cartridge. I didn't want anyone else to have my Deoxys though, so I never cloned that one :(

Definitely gonna transfer my old pokes to Y once I come home for christmas.

Though now it seems shinies come out of the ass this gen. I'm not even trying. I caught a shiny love disc after like 8 chain fishes just to test if there was truth to that method when it was being brought to life.

Now just collecting pokemon in friend safari's I've got a shiny dunsparce and a shiny chansey. I wasn't even trying for shinies either. So I think friend safari's have higher shiny rates.
