It really makes me pumped for the idea of Hoenn remakes because god dayum, HG/SS was perfect.

Just brought out my copy of SS to see what pokemon I have on it that I can eventually transfer to X/Y. Though I do need to actually buy a copy of B/W2 before that.

Unfortunately I discovered my Pokewalker's battery died, and I was looking forward to messing with it a bit again, but I'll just have to wait until I can get a new battery.

That's why FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver happened in the first place, you know? To give you access to all the Pokemon of that generation, since Gen III hugely altered the game's data structure, preventing imports from Gen I and II. But that's never been a problem since then.

So now, there's no impetus or motive on Nintendo's part to have Hoenn remakes, or do anything other than invent new regions and set new games there and design new Pokemon for them, unless/until they just run out of new Pokemon or change the data structure. THEN -- and only then -- could Hoenn remakes possibly become a reality. But probably not.

They're a gold standard for remakes, but the base game that they're remaking isn't too great (Johto is the worst region, specifically) so I don't like them too much

Johto's a very weak region on its own.

Good thing it's never had a game on its own, because it's always had Kanto propping it up, resulting in a "best games because of the combo" situation.

Honestly, it's the "Kanto 3 years later" that makes GSC/HGSS more than anything else.

Like I said, Gen IV is completely self-sufficient. Between D/P/Pt and HG/SS, you can catch every single pre-Gen V Pokemon, without a single import from a previous generation. You have the option of importing, but you have no reason or obligation to do so beyond sentiment.

I still think there will be Hoenn remakes, it is probably the most highly requested feasible idea for the franchise. It is realistic, as it is a new entry in an already established pattern of bringing a remake to a new handheld. Hoenn remakes may not be strictly necessary, but honestly GF has nothing to lose by making them.

The XY Guide all but officially confirms that there will be some other region in Gen 6, due to the fact that it lists berries that can't be obtained in Kalos, and it outright tells you that you will need to import them, and importing items between generations is impossible.

Importing items between generations is impossible AT THE MOMENT.

The Pokemon Bank 3DS app is on it way.

It will be a bridge between Gen V and Gen VI.

Thereby allowing importation of old items into Kalos.

This is CONFIRMED to be happening soon.

There is no reason to believe the Hoenn is coming back soon.

I know it hurts. I want it too. But Hoenn is staying on the GBA, now and forever. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Pic related.
