This guide tells it all. I found that random breeding for a few 4 IV 'mons can help, but it doesn't really matter in the end.

yeah, you need a few parents with different IVs first. So like when I was going for Litwicks I had a lot of normal DN bred ones, including multiple with 4. Then you just start breeding

Yeah. If they have the IVs you need to pass down then keep them in. Only switch if, for example, the Mom is passing down the HP IV, but doesn't have a perfect HP IV.

This is greatly aided by using pen and paper.

This seems like a shitty way to breed. Why not just go through the process of mass hatching eggs? Who cares if you have a bunch of leftovers, you trade that shit away for pokemon you need.

Time saving? I can breed a perfect pokemon in a couple of hours. I would find soft resetting the game to be a pain in the ass each time.

Use Magikarps to gauge IV spread from parents since their eggs hatch the fastest.

Turning off/saving/going online to trade does not alter the parent IV selections.

The calculator is when I got a Litwick with HP, Def, SpA, SpD, and Spe and wanted to know the value of the Attack IV. It needs to be as low as possible to counter confusion.

Abilities? For breeding, that is randomly generated in each eggs you got. Good news is, in Gen 6, Dream World Ability can now be passed through the males/fathers as long as they breed with a Ditto. So find one, anon.

I can confirm that unless you have quite a few breeding rejects and Dittos, this saves no time at all. This really is only useful if you need more than one perfect Pokemon, or you're getting fucked over by the RNG and can't get a perfect child after a couple hours.

You don't get it, the first three steps aren't breeding for the perfect IVs, it's breeding to check which IVs will be passed down in the next egg (Thanks to the RNG not changing) and then choosing the appropriate parents to get a perfect egg in one cycle.

An Egg's data is set even before the Day-Care Man faces the road (indicating the Egg has been generated). It only sets the nature, gender, ability and inherited IVs, but not the IVs per se (meaning its data reads as "inherites mother's [Sp. Atk and Speed] and father's [Attack, Defense, HP]".

This whole guide is telling you to:

1. Get the first Egg.
2. Save the game, box/release/whatever it.
3. Get another Egg. Hatch it, check the IVs. You have to know the parents' IVs. This way, you can be sure of what IVs were inherited by the offspring.
4. So, it wasn't the inheritance you wanted (say, HP/Atk/SAtk/SDef/Speed)? Return to step 2 until you get it.
5. So was it? Good. Reset the game. You will lose the pokémon and the Egg will not have been generated yet, but it has been set already.
6. Change the parents in the Day-Care to parents that do have the exact IVs in the exact places.
7. Get the Egg.
8. ?????
9. Profit!

Do note that you need at the very least a triple-flawless and a double-flawless to have a decent chance of getting a quint-flawless inherintance spread. You really don't want to go with only four 31s and let the fifth one be generated by the RNG. That shit would suck.

Not even RNG'd but hatched 2 6IV beldum yesterday. Also have an almost 6IV (29 Special Def) ditto that I found in the safari. Dont have to RNG check with this thing,just chain breed until I can create 5IV mons like a factory.

The probabilities on the bottom (1/6 and 1/32) are very wrong.

Consider the 1/6 chance that the non-inherited IV is attack. Then, you can still have the HP IV be inherited from the mother, which is 3 instead of the father's 31. This can happen for HP, Def, SpA, and SpD (since only one parent has 31), so the chance would be (.5 * .5 * .5 * .5) IF the non-inherited IV was attack, that all the other IVs are 31. Basically, the probability is close to 1/96 for 5 perfect IVs.

You are assuming incorrectly that the larger IV is always inherited over the smaller one.

Pure luck, I was just farming ditto for decent IV combos for this very method and it was just in the middle of the box. Looked at the stats of most of them to get a general feel of the IVs before going to the judge,saw this and shat bricks

I can't get it to work.

I put the test parents in. (holding everstone and DK)
Generate an egg and reject it, then save.
Generate another egg, take it and check the IVs.

The father was supposed to pass Atk, Def, S.Atk and S.Def, while the mother only Speed, HP was randomized.

So then I reset, switch to a Kangaskhan with whatever and a Tyrantrum with Atk, Def, and perfect S.Def. (and the items)

The egg only had Atk and Def.

Was there something wrong? Does it not work with parents from different species (bar ditto)?

You're still wrong.

In this case, the probabilities are multiplicative since they're independent of each other.

There's a 1/6 chance of choosing the right IV to exclude.

From there, each IV has a 1/2 chance of being a 31 for a total of 1/(2^5) or 1/32.

The real odds of getting a 5 IV poke are 1/192.

Since the last IV in this case is a dice roll between 0 and 31, divide by another factor of 32 for 6 IVs.

Using this method, you have:
1/192 chance of getting a 5 IV
1/6144 chance of getting a 6 IV

In order to remedy this, start placing in kids in such a manner that the IVs are redundant between the parents, in order to start removing those 1/2 fctors.

You don't need to aim for 5 IV every single time.

If you catch a bunch of safari pokemon which have 2 31 IVs minimum, you can do this to very quickly get multiple 4IV Pokemon. It doesn't even really matter which IV doesn't get passed down, you can just continuously "chain" to get a large number of nearly flawless Pokemon very quickly which will make it easier to get a 5/6 IV Pokemon.

And once you have a 6IV father for an egg group, things get even quicker.

So yeah, this method is really fast, but it sort of needs to "accelerate" first. But it's probably a lot faster than the normal way.

Unless there is some confirmed mechanic programmed into the game that causes the game to increase chances of passing the perfect IVs over the non-perfect ones, then rejecting the first egg is a waste of time. I'm highly doubting that such a feature exists in the programming so this sounds like BS to me. You reject the egg, and reset the counter. You want a clean slate. So you reject the egg, and save. Now you can keep tabs on what's happening with a pen or whatever. This is how you want to start, at zero.

This method works when you have a bunch of Dittos and some triple-flawless pokémon because it's likely you'll get the right combination for the parents after a couple Eggs or so. In this example, had I had a 31/x/31/x/x/31 male and a x/31/x/x/31/x female, I'd be done at three Eggs. Or maybe I have a 31/31/x/x/x/x male and a x/x/31/x/31/31 female; if so, I'd reset, reject that Egg and go for the fourth, or fifth, until I got a M/M/F/x/F/F inherintance spread.

Of course, that's if I wanted to get a quint-flawless in one Egg. If I have only double-flawless pokémon, I could use this method to get a quad-flawless first.

You need to know the exact or at least 2-3 IV's approximate. Write them down for the Mother and Father.

K: 31/0/30/1/31/30

Here's an IV Calculator to check:

Then you get the egg hatches, and use the Vs. Recorder to check your stats. Actually, I'm not sure on that, someone else mentioned the Battle Institute. You do this, because you'll get a better approximation at a higher level. Then write down the IV's for the baby.

If its
0/31/30/1/0/30
Then you'll know that
Hp is from K
Atk is from L
Def is from K
and so forth.

This is why you're better using one multi-flawless and one shitty random so it will be easier to know which IV's came from where.

After you know what IV's will be passed down, reset and put in Parents with the Perfect IV's corresponding to what IV's they have. So since we know (from my example) that K sent HP and Def, then the Female should have perfect HP and Def, while the Male should have Perfect attack.

I hope I don't sound too convoluted.

Yeah but the chance of the egg taking the right IV from the right parent on all 5 stats is rather low.

What you do in these cases is chain breeding, if you start with a male and female that each have 3 perfect IVs, then you will switch one of them if you ever get one with four, then you end up with both parents with four in each and all 6 covered. Only now you'll have a reasonable chance of getting an all 5 IV charmander.

For ability-passing, Ditto is male (meaning it won't pass HIS hidden ability, but bred with a male, allows said male to pass his HA to offspring.
For IV passing, ditto counts as male when breeding with a female, and ditto is a female when breeding a male. Still need tests to see what happens when Ditto x (Genderless), but I guess Ditto becomes a male in that case

Or for instance can you get away with breeding a french (insert trashmon here) and an english (insert different species trashmon here) until you get a shiny baby (even if that takes thousands of eggs) and then just reset and swap those parents out for the right parents to make your flawless shiny (insert pokemon here)?

Mothers - Pass down hidden abilities. Pass down species.

Fathers - Pass down egg moves.

In this generation, egg moves can come from either parent. But not Ditto.
Species comes from the non Ditto parent.
Hidden ability comes from a female, or a male breeding with a Ditto.

When it comes to IVs, Ditto counts as the Mother. This was covered in the original thread that the OP image came from.

You guys need to be able to seperate the concept of "Mother" meaning the female pokemon and "Mother" meaning one of the two IV inheritence sides.

is it what GF intended? Probably not. Maybe they put in this obvious thing for smart players who would find it. But it's purely in game so I'm fine with it. It's just a time-shaving technique, and it's not always superior to Brute Force breeding.

It took me just over a day to get a "perfect" noibat (5 ivs without one in attack) but I was completely new to getting more than 1 or two IVs and it took me ages before I clocked on to switching parents.

So I am interested in getting into this, but I know that it's next to impossible to get a Pokemon with 2 or 3 perfect IVs without going to a Friend Safari. The wifi at my school is shit and my 3DS cannot connect to it, so I'm out of luck with Friend Safaris and I was wondering if there was another way to get a Pokemon with perfect IVs in more than one stat.

You can install Connectify on your computer which will allow your 3DS to use the Wifi if your Computer can use it. Same problem on campus at my school and it works. It even allows me to use wifi at home where I only have a cabled connection.

After you have 5 IV pokemon, it can help get you a couple of 6IV pokemon, and become obsolete.

Essentially, it lets you pick the best parents for each inheritance.
If you find the mother will pass down attack, special defense and speed, you can choose a female with perfect IVs that match at least two of those.

Any Baby pokemon caught in the wild have 3 perfect IVs. Catch is you have to be their 'friends' and evolve them. I think Lucario is field, so you can chain quite a large group of decent IV'd pokemon

The personality value and inheritance pattern of the egg is set when you reject the previous egg. So lets say you reject the egg, save, bike, get the egg and hatch it. You go ahead and record its stats.

Then, you reset, bike, and get the same egg. It should be the same.

You can guarantee the nature with an everstone, and make sure 5 IVs are inherited instead of 3 with a destiny knot.

I can second the fact that the gender stays the same, as well as the ability. So 4/4 resets my Harvest Tropius was male. Also the sixth and random stat that you get is also pre-set and SRing for a better random number will not work.

No. Having the proper allocated 31 IV stats for the father and the mother make it go faster. And I've seen both male and female pass down four stats. In other words you don't have to get a pokemon with higher than 4 perfect IVs. But changing the species does not change the allocation of IVs it will change the ability/nature/possibly the gender.

Imagine that you have been trying to game the system and you have a selection of Honedge. You want a 31/31/31/x/31/0 spread. You know that the Father will pass perfect HP/ATK/DEF and the Mother has the SPD/SPE you need in the next egg. Yes, it matters. The Destiny Knot from what we know makes it so if the Mother gives her Speed stat, the Father can't do the same thing. This can mean the difference between a 3 IV and a 5 IV.

Bringing it back to this thread; it is mentioned that if an egg yields a shiny pokemon, then even if you reset, the pokemon will be shiny. The usefulness of this being that I can swap shitparents out for goodIVparents and still ensure I get the shiny. Will this still work even if the parents are of different species? Will this still work if I swap a parent for a ditto, so long as trainer ID's stay the same?

As soon as you reject the first egg the code in the game stores data for the next egg.

So you reject the first egg and then save the game right then mmk.

Then the data stored might have been like this for example: Next egg will pass [HP] from mom, [Def] from dad, [Atk] from mom, [Sp.A] from dad, [Spe] from Mom.

You then hatch the egg and check the newly hatched eggs IVs to discover that for your self.

Now you can cheat the system by reloading the game right after that first egg rejection and then goto the daycare lady and place a new mom and dad with the perfect IVs you want based on what you now corrolating with >HP] from mom, [Def] from dad, [Atk] from mom, [Sp.A] from dad, [Spe] from Mom

It's not exactly random.
You reject the first pokemon to have a starting point for the RNG counter (clean slate if you will). Then you find what 5 IVs get passed down via IV Judge and IV calculator, figure out which parent passed those IVs, then reset an put the appropriate parents into the Daycare for a new, better baby.

The point of this thread is that we we can see which 5 of of 12 IVs get passed down.

We reject eggs because that's when the game determines it, and we reset so we can both know what the are and use the information.

Think of it this way, you're going into the future to see what IV slots are being passed down based on what the baby received. You then go back in time and change the parents based on what slots you discovered from the future would be passed down, since the IV slots being passed down will be exactly THE SAME SLOTS as before even with new parents.

You don't need a calc for 0s, the rater will comment on how bad each stat with a 0 IV is.

This method is really easy with a perfect and five 0 Magikarp pair, don't even need to be near my computer

let me see if I've got this right

right now I'm breeding snorunts, and every baby I've gotten has has had perfect hp ivs, so from what I understand from this thread it means that that parent pokemons hp ivs are more dominant than the other

also in about 60 eggs I haven't gotten one if the remaining two yet-to-be perfect ivs, so does that mean the parent Pokemon just keep sending down their bad ones cause they're dominant ivs?

There's no dominance, it's still random, which is why you can't get that last one. Also, DN only passes 5IVs, the 6th one is completely new for the baby.

with JRNG you just know ahead of time what 5IVs are getting passed down, so you can alter the parents to suit it.

because with this methods it's like you are simultaneously rolling for all the possible combinations of breedable pokemon you have. You get to know the next egg will inherit M / F /M / X /F /M IV's, so you look through your roster to find M's and F's with 31s on your desired slots, instead of just rolling on one of your couples with that egg.
