So far I have Steelix and Charizard X. I can't decide between Crobat and Gengar. Thinking of Cloyster Exeggutor, I love Nidoking but Steelix is ground....

I had that same problem with Black/White, so what I did was use the nuzlocke rules to make you use one pokemon for another, and it worked, for my second run I already knew wich ones I wanted to try and wich ones were must have, like Mienshao, wich I ignored in my first run until I had to use one, and now I look forward to it being my fighting type

It's a "muh autism" thing.

I myself feel uncomfortable using repeating types on in-game teams. I agonized over whether to use Delphox/Blastoise/Gogoat/Heliolisk/Tyrantrum/Sylveon or Chesnaught/Charizard/Heliolisk/Tyrantrum/Gardevoir/Clawitzer.

I went with the first option because I always end up using the Fire starter on my first playthrough, and Blastoise is my favourite starter.
