>>15587249Gen 1 aside from psychic types was pretty balanced. Crits werent that bad.
Gen 2 was stall, but it practiced some moderation.
Gen 3 made tanks into walls. Baton pass and sub-punch was everywhere. The influx of walls made the difference between a match lasting @20 turns to @60.
Gen 4 introduced more wall breakers, too many low risk high reward moves and easy accessible move tutors for them. Too many bullshit coverage tutors like Gliscor getting Ice Fang which makes 0 sense. Stealth Rock was the least of Gen 4s problems.
Gen 5 turned into straight hyper offense because of the avalanche of dumb game design decisions in Gen 4, and OP Pokes/DW abilities. Solid counters to most Pokemon no longer exist.
Gen 6 appears to be a slippery slope. While Megas are OP as shit, they have to give up a hold item which makes them less flexible and more predictable. IMO, thats no different than Valves decision to create Demoknights to discourage grenade spam. In the context of battle, people will just continue to do what works for their team, just like how in TF2 theres still tons of maps with choke points that are usually spawncamped.
Megas didnt really improve the battling scene. They just intoduced more variables to the game. I thought Gamefreak was on the right track with adjusting BSTs and the base power of moves but not everyone who needed it, got it. Honestly, is the extra 10 points in defense gonna make Bellossom usable? Dont think so.
