Hacking is not widespread, there's one guy that can do it and he has promised not to WT anything. Also, the game considers bad eggs as being eggs and eggs can't be WT'd.

The guys figuring out how to hack pokemon were using wonder trade, with that wireshark for example, and bad eggs in WT could be them trying to send hacked guys back to their game, but sending it out instead.

i haven't been really keeping track of this bad egg news. i only briefly read about it here a few days ago. i actually traded off a handful of sleep powder/leaf storm roselias earlier today, knowing about this bad egg thing.

It wasn't random. The ONLY person who has gotten them has had them appear in the same place in the same box of both Pokemon X and Pokemon Y without doing anything online. It's a problem with his 3DS or SD Card.

Immediately after the new legendaries were leaked/Pokegen arguments abound, people flocked to the videos/articles about the bad eggs at release and started spreading a rumor that these were the result of hackers trying to send hacked Pokemon over WT.
Now everyone has to deal with the fearmongering.

I don't think it's ever 'contaminated' the rest of the game though, so I think this is just scaremongering.
