I wouldnt even compare the two. Completely different art styles, target demographic etc.
But there is one thing I like about both of these franchises in terms of monster design - they are simple, yet strangely complex at the same time. I mean, just look at the Deviljho - on a surface, it is just yet another bland T-Rex. But when you look at his ecology, unique set of strenghtes and weaknesses and of course his completely ridiculous looking rage mode, then it suddenly starts being way more impressive as a design.
Feels good being a fan of Pokemon and MH. I just wish
