Seeing him in gold was amazing, especially since I had no idea he was there. I spent a long while exploring mt silver and when I found him, oh man.

Red's not supposed to be some ultra-competitive trainer, he's supposed to represent the average RBY (mainly Yellow) player, hence why he uses only in-game event Pokemon.
