They only are able to get to a Pokemon Center every couple of days so showers are relatively infrequent. She carries her supplies in an impractically small fanny pack, so there's not much room for necessities, and, as one of the AG episodes shows, she has quite a few large cases of perfume and beauty supplies. She's got two swimsuits, a sleeping bag, and a change of clothes for winter weather. There's not much space for too many pairs of clean underwear. On top of that, she wears the same outfit EVERY. DAY. That spandex is going to get smelly, and fast.
She might have perfume, but honestly, when someone smells naturally and they try to cover it up with a ton of fragrant body spray, it smells even worse because the stink mixes with the smell of the perfume. It's beyond nauseating.
Let's not forget that she has crazy-fast metabolism. She eats like crazy and all she has is a slightly pudgy and infinitely pinchable lower half of her body. Chances are, she's going have more bowel movements and gas episodes than those with slower metabolism.
face it. May is very hot, but she's also smelly. It's a fact of life.
