And what about the kids: Shauna, Tierno, and Trevor? The story was interesting back then.
Now we have 11-year-old twins going by "Red" and "Green" that just happens to be rivals with some other "Blue" kid who is the professor s' grandson. And they apparently live in some poisonous war-desert wasteland.
The new poison-types are all yucky. And Exeggwhatever is just six eggs. Apparently hatching from one egg (as seen in Pokemon Gold). And it evolves into a palm tree. And the palm s' coconuts when they fall they hatch again into Exeggthings. There is a lot of unoriginal looking ones! Curly ears, curly tails, horns everywhere, Rattata is a purple rat becomes Raticate a bigger rat. It's supposedly related to Bidoof, the well-known scrappy of Gen 3, according to pokedex entries. But at least Bidoof evolved into the Normal\Water type Bibarel, and also had some originality! Why would a Bidoof rehash be PURPLE? Did he somehow interbreed with an Aipom? The world might never know.
At least it's a prequel to Gold & Silver. Remember Red, the Gen 5 Kanto Champion on the top of Mt. Silver, Blue, the Viridian City gym leader, and Salon Maiden Green, owner of Kanto s' battle frontier, who lives in the Sevii Islands? Yup, that's them. Yellow, the psychic healer living in Ecruteak City, who spent time dressed up as a boy and is shorter than everybody despite being the same age as Gold, was originally found by Green in Viridian Forest. Janine was going by "Charine" back then for some reason (Maybe because the fire starter is named Charmander and Game Freak was all up to too much work?) Gold, Silver, Kris, and Lyra also are suppose to cameo- Silver is the son of the previous Viridian gym leader Giovanni and leader of Team Rocket, and the other three also have scenes- Uhi, are'nt Gold and Kris also twins? Maybe they will be helped by Red and Green. And Lyra is the kid of ranch farmers or somesuch. She's kinda like Gen 3 s' Angie, but brunette and much more girlier, the more you think about it.
