All they had to do was make steel super effective against dragon, give ice some resistances, give more steel moves, and make steel lose some of its resistances. No more new type and a more balanced game.

Fairy type doesn't just exist to balance the type chart.

It also exists because, like Mega Evos, it's a way to give new toys to old mons and make them better.

Fucking WIGGLYTUFF IS VIABLE THIS GEN. That's what Fairy-type did. It's not just about balancing the chart.

There are a lot of choices that would have helped balance the chart and made sense flavor-wise.

Steel > Dragon is one.

Poison > Water is another (pollution)
Water < Ice is another (ice needs the resist, though it could go either way).
Normal > Bug and Bug < Normal, that one makes sense just from real life.
Fire < Dark would have been interesting and could probably be justified a few ways.

I meant more than one attack that's viable. There's iron head and flash cannon. That's all that comes to mind.

I always figure the knights that actually manage to slay a dragon were in the minority, and most of them just got cooked like a can of beans. Not every knight can be Lancelot the Dragonslayer. Then again, he was raised by fairies.

It's like you've not faced the one out of every five teams in OU that uses BULLET PUNCH.

Also Gyro Ball.

Also Iron Tail.

Also Doom Desire though you'd be forgiven for forgetting it since only Rachi gets it IIRC and flavor-wise it makes precisely ZERO sense as a steel-type move.

Normals aren't exactly a major threat, and they deserve SOMETHING.

Bugs actually do all right. It's not a great offensive type, though the psychic advantage doesn't hurt.

It could definitely stand an accuracy bump, but IIRC some mons make good use of it.

I think that's largely for the STAB, of course, but still.
