Never did it before. They told me it was easy now. I find it tedious, i bred 3 pokemon until now, still didn't test them on Battle mansion or online. If i think that all the boring shit was worth it i will continue. Otherwise i'll stop. Simple as that.

You're just going to be playing in the Battle Maison and online, having perfect IVs doesn't make a huge difference.

Unless you're entering big deal tournaments then don't waste your time, especially if you find it tedious.

Are you retarded? Of course they do there is a lot of difference in using a 23 speed IV Blaziken than a 31 speed IV one in both Maison and Online.

Yes I am but I wanted Speed/HP/Atk and I always got Speed/HP/SpDef and the correct ones got Blaze, it was hell.
I managed to get one with 4 IV but with Blaze so I stopped at the first one with Speed Boost and perfect HP/Speed/Atk.

Okay maybe for speed it's a bigger deal since that's such a large leap for just one or two points difference but if we're talking attack or defense most of the time having 145 defense (31 IV example) as compared to 142 defense (28 IV example) isn't really all that big of a difference

Alright, I',m looking for some help on breeding for IV's. I'm completely new to it.

I've been trying to get a 31/x/31/31/31/31 modest Squirtle with Dragon Pulse and Aura Sphere. To try and do this I've been using a female Squirtle with 31/x/31/x/x/x @ everstone and a male Squirtle with x/x/x/31/31/31 with Dragon Pulse and Aura Sphere @ Destiny Knot. All I got so far after around 3 boxes are 5-6 of them with 3 perfect IV's, usually something around 31/x/x/x/31/31 or something along those lines.. Am I doing something wrong or does it just take a very long time?

Swap out your 2xperfect IV for a 3xperfectIV. Ups your chance of a 4xperfect IV which you then switch in... That's how I got my 5xperfect IV Cranidos with Iron Head in 3 hours.

What I've been doing is making "preliminary" Pokemon. They usually have just 1 or 2 perfect IVs, any beneficial nature, and the right ability. I use these preliminary Pokemon to test out teams and movesets and to battle with to break up session of the real hardcore breeding. It helps keep me sane.

I don't use pokegen but some people want both EYECANDY and GOOD POKES in game. I went to showdown and all it has is shitty sprites. Worked with Gen 5 because they are the same but the new gen 6 one's look awful. Plus the game has more content like battle mansion and other events that some people prefer. Either way I have perfect IV pokes but there were not that easy to get. Took like 4-5 hours each and the 12.5% female ratios one's took even longer and not everyone has that time.

Breeding this time around is made a crap ton easier so I'm getting my guys legit.
I have a ditto with 4 I'vs with Atk, Def, Spf Atk, Spf Df. I have a fletchling with HP , speed, and atk.

I have been getting nothing but 2-3 IV pokemon. I have Destiny Knot and everything.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is it just that tedious and I need to keep going till I get something? Is it true when you breed 2 4-5 IV pokemon the rates go to something like 1/24 eggs will be perfect?

I've been operating under the vague idea that even with D. Knot one stat will always be determined by the whims of the RNG, with the specific stat being reselected, rerolled, and locked every time you reject an egg.
Hence the talk of using soft resets to exploit that rejection reroll and get even better odds.

If so, i imagine it's overwriting one of the perfect stats your Ditto and Fletchling share, and only rejecting an egg will rotate the random stat.
But that's just my vague impression of the system, not actual theory, so don't quote me on it.

This argument is easy.

Some people like grinding. I imagine the people who like spending entire days getting perfect Pokemon are the same type of people who grind mounts in World of Warcraft. I understand the appeal, but no thanks.

Then you've got people like me who just enjoy Pokemon, I think it's a cool game, have enjoyed it for years, but come on now, everyone doesn't like that shit. So I'd rather drop 20 bucks and buy a pixel horse than grind for one for hours.

If both options are there, take the one that applies to you. Be proud of your hard earned Pokemon, but don't give me shit because I couldn't care less.

Now, if someone doesn't perfectly breed then I would have an advantage, but so would someone who does perfectly breed which kind of nullifies the point there.

I've tried breeding both just spamming eggs en masse and doing the method in the jpg here. I'm not sure which one I like better, both have their ups and downs. If you use the one in this image though you can cut down on RNG a lot.

Protip: If you do use the method in that picture have two parents with 31 IVs in the stat you don't want (ie the stat you want randomed) that way you can tell if the stat is being passed on from the parents or randomized by checking it at the IV checker.

I haven't had the pleasure of breeding two 6 31 IV pokemon together, but if you're breeding two 5 31 IV pokemon together (with different IVs) you always have the chance of getting 3 31 IVs.

Breeding the pokemon with unbalanced gender ratios is always a pain in the ass. Now that males can pass on natures/abilities and females can pass on eggmoves I don't even know why the genders are still unbalanced for some pokemon.

Honestly, I feel like egg moves, abilities, natures, and EVs are enough of an effort gate for competitive stuff.

IV breeding, even with the destiny knot, is still an arbitrary RNG based timesink and I feel it goes against the series' own philosophy of using your favorites.

Base stats do that, IVs were an incentive for breeders dedication but with pokegen the whole point of them is ruined. Honestly at this point I'd be happier if they just took out IVs all together.

Breeding starter pokemon or base evolution pokemon that lead to common OU pokemon makes trading for pokemon really easy. To the point that catching them is a waste of time. I imagine you could catch just one pokemon (enough to breed your starter) and from that, end up with almost every Pokemon in the game via trading. The only limitation I can think of would be the massive cost of having all of them leveling up while breeding, which you couldn't support early.

Breeding still takes a stupid amount of time, not as much as it used to, but it still takes a damn long time, especially if you get unlucky.
Hidden Power is still an unholy bitch to properly breed.
Egg moves are still fucking retarded
Most pokemon are fucking goddamn useless without their BW2 tutor moves, so I have to wait until pokebank anyway to make good pokemon.
Perfect IVs is not optimal in most situation and I'd wish gamefreak realized this. Give us some zero speed and attack IV dittos, you massive cunts.

Base stats are a part of the game's design though. If everything is strong, then nothing stands out, so different pokemon will be stronger or weaker in various aspects. I won't deny there's some stupid decisions on GF's part, but that's an integral part of gameplay.

What I'm talking about is how I can't use my actual favorite pokemon for competitive use. If I want to use a tyrantrum for instance, I can't use the one who has been my constant ally since early in my adventure, I have to spend a long time breeding a different one who is arbitrarily better than him. I then have to decide what to do with the dozen or so tyrunts who are arbitrarily worse than the final product and I have no use for.

Most special attackers have to deal with knee high move pools.
Even with the nerf, they need to carry it because they have literally nothing else.
Jolteon with and without HP ice is a massive difference.
