So I have around 80 hours on X and Y now and no shiny.

I'm really hoping for a shiny Charmeleon or Growlithe in a friend's safari. Have they really upped the shiny encounter ratio in there? I've been going around for the best part of 2 hours now.

Do I need to do the 'tip' rumor where you pay the waiters?

Not sure if bait... Only got 1 shiny 180 hours in, due to chain fishing, nice Dragalge, dat dose.

Otherwise, never found a shiny in the grass yet.

Back when SS released I found a shiny Pidgey at the start followed by a shiny Rattata.

I just want a shiny in X and Y, I suck at chaining. ;___;

it is very easy to get them in the Friend Safari, had most of mine within 1 to 2 Hours

I wouldn't say it's very easy to find shinies in the friend safari. Atm I've caught a total of 14 shinies in my game, 5 from the friend safari, one at victory road (totally random) and the rest from chain fishing.

Currently I've been looking for a shiny eevee in this normal safari for like the past 5-6 hours and still haven't found a single one. I guess today's not my lucky day. :c

Just keep on going.

Also avoid fish chaining now unless you really want the Pokémon. Those are mostly worthless.

Only 4 hours? Gotta try a little harder than that, anon.
I was there for 2 days, finally encountered shiny Lampent after ~2000 encounters.

Then a couple weeks later (today) I randomly encountered a shiny Illumise in my friend's safari after like 5 encounters.

Spent the last 10 hours trying to get a shiny gastly, then I ran out of twin peaks episodes. Right now I'm too heartbroken about that finale to continue.

I was finding 2 to 3 shinies in safaris a day since I gained access to them, but for the past 3 day, nothing, zero, nada.
