How do you know which Pokemon to use the Master Ball on in each game? I made the mistake a few years ago of wasting it on Latios in Ruby.

Shinies that have a tendency to run quickly or explode, Mewtwo or Zygarde if you don't want to bother sitting down and catching them in a regular pokeball, etc.

In ruby, I can't really think of anything that you would have trouble catching apart from a roaming legend. Unless it's a shiny that can escape or knock itself out...

There is no reason to use it though as you can activate a level 3 catching power and get any Pokemon in a Pokeball

Using it on Latios wasn't a waste, he was more difficult to catch than Rayquayquay. Roaming legendary is usually the way to go because the other battles you can prepare for.

I was thinking about using it on the X legendary... I throw a regular poke ball and catch him on my first try.

I have awful luck with Rayquaza, I guess. I've used every type of ball (besides Master of course) and haven't caught it yet.

Just seemed to fit, plus I always used it on him in red.
Used masterball on lugia I think for silver, because I really didn't give a shit about ho-oh, and didn't think to use it on roaming legendaries.
on b/w and b2/w2 I used it on whichever yang pokemon was my legendary, I really don't give a shit about the genies or mlp fucks so it didn't really matter.

I wouldn't even use it on Mewtwo..... You can catch him in a Pokeball if you have enough time to waste. It's best saved for those rare opportunities.

The most practical uses are to use it on a shiny with explode/teleport/recoil moves, or the roamer to cut out the bullshit. Asides from that, it's begging for Mewtwo to be put inside it.

Used it on Moltres because I wanted him for his main team and catching him regularly while soft resetting for natures was taking ages, had to use masterballs to speed it up.

I reserve my premier balls for pokemon that waste my damned time, or get down to 1 hp and then refuse to be caught. I like to refer to them as "shame balls." Any pokemon I see in a white ball I know was being a little cunt when I found it.

Other than that I try to get the ball to match the colour of the pokemon.
