I have three cousins who all live with their single dysfunctional mother, who can't admit that she's a bad parent. My youngest cousin is 13 and was diagnosed with ADHD, his older sister was diagnosed with ADD, and my eldest cousin was diagnosed with aspergers. They were all put on drugs for it, but their mother insisted on changing their meds every few months, so their behavior was completely fucked up because they were never able to stabilize. It's been many years and during that time they could have learned to overcome their "disorders" themselves, but now they absolutely cannot function without some kind of drug.
What's even worse is that their disorders have become part of their identity, and they never push themselves in school or social situation because "the disorder is preventing them"
Basically, some children don't like school, some are awkward in social situations, and some are little balls of energy, but they will never grow out of that into adults if they are medicated. especially when their disorders are imposed upon them by a mother who cant deal with the fact that she has failed.
