I came into some cash today and am considering picking up a 3DS XL and a copy of Pokemon X or Y. I had a quick question I wanted answered before dropping any money: How many Pokemon (minus legendaries) are outright absent from being caught in game, i.e. that HAVE to be acquired through previous gen transfers? I have a copy of Soul Silver and Platinum lying around, but if they won't be useful I'm going to use them to cover the cost of the game. Or I guess a better way to phrase the question is, how useful would it be to keep around the old games if trading with others online is trivial for me?
