X and Y are great games, but Kalos is such a boring region.There's almost no mythology about the Legendary Pokemon compared to previous games.

I dunno. I stopped at gen 3, but I thought the whole Yggdrasil theme was pretty cool. I wish they expanded on that a bit more though. It seemed like they just put zygarde at the end of terminus cave with no rhyme or reason.

Not to mention the orbs placed there as well.

The games hint at some lore, like with Parfum palace being built by a King(lol Louis XIV) 300 years ago after a great war, but not much is done with it. Same, of course, with the main plot with AZ being a ancient king and Lysandre being his brother's descendant.

The game feels very unfinished in places.

That's stated pretty clearly when you meet Sycamore and Lysandre in Lysandre cafe. The books in Lysandre Labs also mention that AZ's brother buried the weapon and only told his descendants where it was.

Was it your first pokemon game or something?

Kalos has good ideas like the monolith field and the Mont Saint Michel city but the rest was relatively tame. It's like real France, once you saw Paris and Versailles there's actually really little to do.

Just like they randomly put Rayquaza on top of a pillar in Ruby/Sapphire, Giratina in a strange cave in Diamond/Pearl, or Kyurem in another random cave in Black/White.

None of those ever made sense.

The thing that bothers me with Zygarde is that it's not exactly hidden or out of the way. Hell, there's a construction worker one room away and it's not really a pain in the ass to get to. All that's needed is Rock Smash which the trainers inside at least have because they're already in the cave.

All of the other examples you listed are in way out of the way areas with no trainers.
