It was the most hyped pokemon game, when pokemania was in full power

Not to mention GSC is still probably the most improved sequel, better than glitchy RBY in every single way

But it all changed when the Hoenn nation attacked...just not being able to transfer your pokebros almost killed the franchise

People are voting for HG/SS more than G/S/C because the updated battle mechanics make the game more fun.

As for why people like Gen 2 so much it's probably because Kanto+Johto make up for the largest area to explore than any other game in the series.
