His Ultimate Cannon was a life-bringer before it was a death-bringer. He is imbued with the life energy of Xerneas and will live forever, wandering the Earth, broken and alone with no company but the terrible weight of the pain he caused to everyone around him.

Though you'd be forgiven for missing that since they revealed it with all the subtlety of a Zelda game explaining how it was really Ganondorf all along in the last 30 minutes.

Why do people rag on this so much? Twilight Princess was the only game that was really bad about it. You found it he was behind it in Wind Waker a half hour into the game, and shortly after you enter the Dark World in Link to the Past. A more apt comparison would be the NES Megaman games.

We've needed this since the beginning.

One of the things I've disliked about the games is that it's glorified cock-fighting. Pokemon are just there to catch, train and fight with, and they could be so much more.

I honestly really hope AZ's Floette is just that. AZ's Floette. I pray it is never made obtainable in the games. Battle it, yes please. More AZ. But he spent 3000 years looking for her, no kid deserves to come up and steal her away. Plus it kinda degrades regular Floette and Florges.

I remember hearing a rumor that Ganon wasn't originally going to be in the game, but fans bitched a storm about it, saying he should be in the 20th anniversary game. Then when Nintendo put him in, they bitched some more. Probably false, but wouldn't put it past the Zelda fans.

That said, I will never forgive Skyward Sword for making Ganon Satan's tantrum

It's funny because over the last few gens they've really played up the "living in harmony" angle; Pokemon work alongside humans, live with them, are their friends and confidants. And not like farm animals or pets; they have Gurrdurrs working on construction projects and shit like that, they were literal soldiers (not tools of war, actual soldiers) in the wars of the Kalos region's past, they're worshipped as holy beings and gods, etc. They literally replace humans in certain contexts and become a part of society, especially the ones that can clearly communicate with humans in some fashion, and in many cases supercede humans as the more important class of creature.

But the player is presented with "beat them to a pulp and then catch them in this fucking ball right here". That's it; you want to play the game, that's what you do. There's no option for playing in a way that involves befriending them rather than merely capturing them.

Granted, talking mons ARE game canon (see: Zoroark in B2W2) but they definitely downplay it.

I kind of had an idea once that involved Pokemon acting AS TRAINERS; they had 6 mon teams, but the 6th mon was THEM, and they simply stepped forward to fight.

There are mons that make sense in this context; Lucario, Zoroark, Mewtwo, Arceus, Alakazam, and plenty of others that could conceivably be trainers AS WELL as Pokemon.

Surprised the games haven't done it yet, ever since Mewtwo was a trainer in the first movie I expected the games to get on board with the idea.
