Gengar can also switch into Sacred Sword and KO Aegislash with Shadow Ball or cripple it with Will-O-Wisp. Nobody in their right mind would say that Gengar is an Aegislash counter.
And there isn't a hard counter to the standard Aegislash set? Really?
Hippowdon can switch into both Shadow Sneak, Iron Head, or Scared Sword and take almost no damage and then proceed to use Earthquake repeatedly with absolutely no fear or prediction required because it doesn't activate King's Shield attack drop.
Gyarados can do the exact same thing and lowers its attack with intimidate.
