I got mad earlier about this little shit. Just wanted a female to start breeding extrasensory onto togepi, and instead the FIRST freaking egg I hatched was a shiny. Not even female or serene grace (I'm going for a serene grace modest togepi with extrasensory as well, but not necessarily shiny). I'm both mad and impressed I had a masuda method chain of one.

Currently going to the Name Rater. The Growlithe isn't that great, tbh, since it's Sassy and his max IVs are HP and Def, but the other is Sassy and has max IVs in Def and SpDef, so it's not that much a change.

So, I think switching pokemon your breeding helps speed up the process. I bred about 250 charmanders and then switched out, bred a bunch of ralts for type and IVs, then switched back to charmander with a new, better IV parent and got a shiny on my first egg.
