I don't think the hitboxes move.

Trying to follow the Pokemon is most likely your problem.

I finally managed to get 5 stars in it some days ago. I had to memorize where each piece of the edge goes. It isn't too bad once you get used to it.

Heart Scales are available a little bit later, sadly the move relearner is not. However you'll have Psybeam by then anyway.

Just catch or breed another one if you're set on using Kadabra. The move relearner isn't until after the 6th gym.

I can hit it more often than not. You have to hit it in the split-second that it first touches the hit-box. It took me many tries to find the sweet spot, but now I can hit it like any other ball.

the affction system becomes a real burden once you get over pokemon amie.

Its really just an easy mode in an already easy ass game.
