The onyl good ice types are Kyurem-B/W, Mamoswine and Cloyster.

And they its because of their secondary type that they shine, well Kyurem-B/W are more because of their stats and moves.

IMO the perfect Ice type would be a figurative glass cannon.

Dont bother with defenses when they already suck at it, instead make it fast and strong. And for god sakes give an Ice type a better move pool. Kyurem was killed because its shallow ice age movepool.

Pokemon is not some mystic art, its plain old math.

And the math says that Ice type sucks defensively.

You had Regice, the so called Ice Golem, that could be broken by a nice hard chop.

I havent used Avalugg but looking has his stats, his HP is to low to be of a a wall and his attack is good, his speed is laughable. The only good use I could see of him is Trick Room. Dont even waste your time using him if you arent doing a Trick Room team.

Avalugg has things like curse, rapid spin, and fucking RECOVER. Don't leave it in on a special attacker unless sturdy is still up. Not to mention better defenses and offenses than fucking skarmory.

He's bulky as hell, but still gets dicked over by a lot of physical attackers.
M-Lucario takes 95% of his HP out with a CC.
With entry hazard damage, the nigger is fucking dead.
It's a physical wall that can't handle major physical threats.

You could use him as a spinner, as long as you don't want him to be just that. He's weak to rocks, but he also has recover, and nothing physical is doing more than 25% without being SE and/or boosted to hell and back.

Actually, if Avalugg is full defensive, it's 77.22 - 91.08% against Close Combat at level 50. You are right that stealth rocks would be enough in most situations though, but this is also considering that Lucario would have to be already out and thus giving Avalugg no chance to heal with recover or raise its defense though.

Coincidentally, Skarmory can be 2HKO by M-Lucario's Close Combat.

I'd like to try Mirror Coat because combined with Sturdy you're pretty much guarenteed to kill whatever special sweeper came in to remove Avalugg. But you'll be pretty shit out of luck next turn since he can barely outspeed Shuckle.
