How do you determine the best distribution of stats, regarding EVs and Nature, for your pokemon?
An exemplum: I'm attempting to create a bulky klefki that knows only status moves and can set up reflect and light screen for my team. However, I had no idea how to go about distributing his EVs or selecting his nature, so I just did this:
Nature: Impish (+Def, -SpA)
EVs:
HP: +252 (320 at level 100)
Def: +68 (258 at level 100)
Sp. Def.: (257 at level 100)
Basically, I just maxed out HP and split Defense and special defense as evenly as possible. I feel like I'm missing out on something though. When I look at Smogon's recommended sets for pokemon, they have oddly specific EV spreads for pokemon- so I feel like there's something deeper that I'm missing out. i.e. setting up my klefki's defenses exactly so it can take two fiery dances from a Volcarona or two earthquakes from a Garchomp or something like that.
Is there a complex way to calculate this shit or should I just leave it as it is?
