Lugia is a wide Pokemon. Because of this, it looks shitty in the games. Whenever Lugia has to fit in a square, they either draw it from the side or fuck up its wings. It's unfortunate, really, because the model looks best with long, huge wings.

Key word is "depicting".

It's not vaguely related in some way, you have to do better than thematic/symbolic connections.

It is a DEPICTION. As in "IT LOOKS LIKE IT".

Obviously your stone-carving primitives aren't necessarily ones for 1:1 accuracy, but it's not anywhere CLOSE to Hoopa. It's square, it's hornless, it's got a large central forehead stripe, it has prominent nostrils.

It looks absolutely NOTHING like any of them. It looks more like a goddamn Onix head than any of the event legendaries.

Fucking Skybattles were probably the single worst addition to the game. Pointless as shit gimmick, but GF was too lazy to throw it in the game without fucking around with those of us who don't give a flying shit (no pun intended).

They're working with 3D models now. They have no excuse to literally take 1 week of their development time tops to make non-flying animations for Pokemon, and to make flying animations for those that don't normally fly in battle but are capable of flight (lol at Gengar not being able to join while Haunter can).

It makes some pokemon really look stupid when they're just hovering in place like that. Like do you really fucking think Lugia is going to be gently floating 2 feet above the ground like that? What the fuck does he think he is, a ballerina? Skormary, Xatu, etc. look so unnatural in constant flight. We've always seen them as being groundbound birds, and they really do just aesthetically look better not in perpetual flight.
