Even Ice/Steel would be amazing; you still gain more than you lose. Fighting and Fire crushed you, anyway.
Aggron suffers because of its stupid ROCK typing, which is resistant to a whopping two things (Normal, Flying) while being weak to Fighting, Steel, Grass, and Water, the latter two of which are almost always special and completely negate the point of having high Defense in the first place.
Ferrothorn is only used because Steel is an overpowered defensive typing, especially coupled with its amazing defensive stats and seemingly tailor-made support movepool. Forretress is the same. Scizor gets STAB Technician Bullet Punch and is weak to ONE type: Fire, which is easily circumvented by its access to U-Turn and switching to anything that's resistant or has Flash Fire.
Steel is busted, not the types it's paired with.
