this means that a parent with 31/31/31/x/x/31 IVs will DRASTICALLY increase your chances of a perfect egg over a 31/31/x/x/31/31.
If it's the way I think it is the latter case leaves your last perfect stat entirely up to RNG in which case your odds are just as good as default breeding.

Me again.
After my first batch of eggs with the new parents every one of them supports my theory.
Furthermore,
The IVs were always taken in the same way
3 from one parent and 2 from the other.
So, in theory, I will be able to get a 5 IV from these new parents while it was practically impossible with the others.
As a reminder the new parents are:
31/31/31/x/31/x
and
31/x/31/x/31/31
So I need it to take HP, Atk and Def from the first parent and then Sp.D and Spd from the second.
It's a matter of time.

Hate to ask, as I know it's probably an easy answer, but I was on the GTS the other night and it isn't letting me trade any of my Ditto. It says "This Pokemon cannot be traded!" It's actually only happened with Ditto, but I've personally caught these, in the Village, so they even have my OT ID. Anyone know what causes this?

Rules:
1) One parent donates 3 IVs and the other donates 2 while using the destiny knot. The last is up to RNG. Which one donates 2 and which donates 3 seems like a 50/50 chance. So random basically.
2) Parents only donate adjacent stats. If a parent is only donating the 2 IVs and one of them is HP the other MUST me attack since it is the only adjacent stat.

My parent's current IVs are:
Parent 1 (P1):
31/31/31/x/31/x
and
Parent 2 (P2):
31/x/31/x/31/31

Child 1:
31/31/31/x/31/31 (FUCK YES FINALLY PERFECT)
This is the case I just mentioned in my last post.
It took HP, Atk and Def from P1 and Sp.D and Spe from P2. 5 Perfect IVs

Child 2:
31/31/x/x/31/31
This one took HP and Atk from P1
Sp.A, Sp.D and Spe from P2

Child 3:
31/31/x/x/31/31
Same as the last one though it seems the RNG value was lower because this was was only superior while child 2 was outstanding.

Child 4:
31/x/31/x/31/31
HP, Atk, and Def from P2. SpA and Spe from P1.

Child 5:
31/31/31/x/31/31 (HOLY SHIT TWO. REALLY? AAAAAA)
Same as child 1.

And with that I can say I'm 100% right. God damn I'm happy.

My issue is, how are you sure that a certain parent passed an overlapping IV? I mean, if both have 31HP you cannot know who you got it from. That may be skewing your results. I'm testing with parents with completely different IVs between them to see if the rule holds.

wait wait, here's another thought, if it can only pick adjacent stats and you're using a power item + Destiny knot, could you short circuit the process somehow? say, power band the speed, so if it chooses the speed of one parent, it cant choose the sp.def? say, for something that doesnt require sp.def., thus ensuring the correct 5 IVs?

That's a very good question actually...
The only thing I can think it would be is that it considers HP and Spe adjact since their both on the ends.
If that's the case then P2 donated Spe, HP and Atk while P1 donated Def and SpA.
Much more science is needed but I'm all scienced out but I'm glad you asked that.

Okay, here are the tests I performed re: the adjacent IV question. I obtained a 4-1 relationship on Karp 2, so the "always 2-3" part is not true. Also, there are non-adjacent IVs inherited from a certain parent; see Karp4 for example. So I think that overlapping 31s give the illusion of inheritance patterns, but what I believe happens in reality is that the game rolls the "random" IV and then individually flips a coin between mom/dad for the rest of the values (guaranteeing at least one from each parent)
