I think I may have goof'd, /vp. After 18 boxes, I managed to hatch myself a shiny Goomy with solid IVs. I hadn't known what would be best for it nature-wise and I went with Modest. Thought that Gooey seemed like a gimmick, so I never worked for it.

Modest non-gooey is fine, just make sure to use it to it's strengths.
